Being Happy Is The Knowledge That You Are Not Lost
Being happy is part of finding the purpose of life. How many times have you asked yourself “am I really happy?” Why do you feel lost and unsure of which direction you should go?
In the world of philosophy and psychology, there is already a debate about what it means to be happy in everyday life. There has been a debate on the question of whether happiness exists at all. Is it fleeting or can a person be truly happy? As always, the debate is largely about what we think being happy is.
The answer to that question determines our well-being. Whether it was something impossible, something fleeting, or something achievable. In recent years, scholars have conducted various studies on the concept of happiness. The results of the studies lead us to different conclusions.
These studies also attempt to establish distinctions and relationships between other related concepts, such as joy. In both cases, most scholars agree that being happy is, by definition, at least partially subjective. We all need to find and define happiness ourselves, which is why it is so fascinating.
Being happy is a personal inner state of mind
You can feel happy but be unhappy. You can also feel sad but be happy. So says a longitudinal study based on people’s happiness in more than 148 countries. The study states that the concept of happiness is an internal state of mind. It has less to do with what is happening outside of us than with what is happening inside us. The list of 148 countries is quite representative given that it contains more than 95% of the world’s population.
The conclusions of another longitudinal macro study by Harvard support this idea. According to the study, being happy is a sustainable inner state of mind. It is not the product of a relaxed and transient event, nor does it depend on how well things are going. If you think about it that way, your well-being can be related to your inner peace, your spiritual peace, your sense of calm, and your sense of security that fills you with the feeling of satisfaction you feel for your life.
Being happy is closely related to finding your own path
As Jorge Bucay said, you can define happiness as the certainty that you are not lost. As part of a new mindset of personal well-being, Bucay believes that being happy is part of finding your own path.
Happiness is not about getting to any particular place. It is about going in the right direction. It has nothing to do with the joy of receiving something in vain that others cannot achieve. It doesn’t make anyone truly happy. And it is a lie that satisfaction is associated with accomplishments that are so mundane that you need to look for a new goal as soon as the old one is achieved.
A clear mind that guides you in a certain way nourishes happiness. Choose a path that is in harmony with your values. As a result, you will enjoy the challenges that arise along the way. You’ll find joy if you have enough confidence to check the compass and keep moving forward, growing, and sustaining adventures no matter what happens. When you feel that way, joy reborn itself, and it grows and fills you.
