Healing A Bad Day: 5 Tips
Who hasn’t ever had a bad day? Healing a bad day is not always easy. You get up and everyone seems to be conspiring against you. You run out of soap, breakfast returns to the bottom, it rains water even though the forecast promised sun. People look at you as if something is wrong. You say something and it is misunderstood. Everything, just about everything, goes wrong…
Sometimes a bad day is one where you have something important to do and everything goes wrong. Maybe it’s a project you lead at work. You prepared it carefully, but the end result was disappointing. Or you have an important appointment with someone special who cancels it, even if you had arranged everything in advance.
No one is safe from a bad day. But you don’t just have to accept it and feel helpless. You can always do something to heal a bad day and make it a good day. After all, it is one day in life. And when there is life, there are also ways to correct what is not right.
1. Healing a bad day: take a break
Stressful situations can sometimes discourage us. It starts with a little discomfort and then it grows into a real concern. Then, not realizing how it happened, you’re suddenly nervous and you’re about to explode. But if you stop stress on time, a bad day will get better.
Whenever you are in a situation that stresses you, take a short break. If you can, take a longer break. Take advantage of it so you can breathe, listen to your favorite songs, or read something nice. Or just go for a walk. It helps reduce stress and think more clearly.
2. Refuse to make self-fulfilling prophecies
One bad day doesn’t mean the next days are bad. A bad hour also doesn’t mean the rest of the day is bad. Sometimes, however, we mistakenly drift into assuming that the first bad thing is a sign that even worse is coming.
This is how we inadvertently make self-fulfilling prophecies. We say things like “it would have been better if I had stayed in bed”. Or we say we have bad luck. While we may not be aware of it, we are causing a situation where negativity continues.
The key is to change the focus from negative to positive or at least find possible alternatives. Finding solutions helps us heal a bad day instead of being helpless and just complaining.
3. Healing a bad day: change your body chemistry
Bad mind and stress cause chemical changes in your body. Especially in the brain. Some hormones are activated while others are blocked. Now you can’t get out of this state around just. So we need to do something to change this chemistry.
One way to accomplish this is through exercise. It can be a brisk walk or a fast yoga routine. Or why not dance? Exercise helps to restore chemical balance. Another option is to eat healthy foods, especially fresh fruits or vegetables.
4. Focus on constructive things
You can always learn from everything that happens to you. You just have to adopt the right attitude. You just have to open your mind and ask yourself if there is something you can learn from what happened. What does all this say about you?
It is also important to think positive thoughts. Think, for example, of the days when everything goes well. Bring back fond memories. Look around you and appreciate the good around you. Be grateful for everything.
5. Do something better
A bad day is also a great opportunity to demand more from yourself. Yes, demand more. If you usually do half an hour of exercise a day, do an hour. If you do your job well, do it even better. Dedicate more time and effort to things. You can also do something special for the person you have neglected.
Throwing on the couch and surrendering is not an option. Wasting the rest of the day is not good. On the contrary: channel this discomfort and do things better. It makes you feel better. You will see how it improves your mood.
Remember that whatever happens, a bad day ends. Tomorrow the sun will rise again. If you managed to deal with the situation, then tomorrow it will be much better than today. The future is yours.
