Wayne Dyer And His 7 Best Quotes

Wayne Dyer and his 7 best quotes

When you read Wayne Dyer’s writings, it’s easy to see why he became such a popular self-help-oriented psychologist.  He transformed his books like  Accept Yourself – Dare to Live! and  Live on their own terms,  a simple, easily approachable, and practical reading experience in highly academic psychology. He enabled us to be actors in our own change and responsible for our own happiness.

Yet many have criticized Dyer’s work. His long-standing position as a successful writer in the field of self-help  led academically scholars to refer to his simplified versions of psychological theories and approaches. There is still something we should keep in mind, something that Wayne Dyer himself knew very carefully.

Writing scientific articles for a university is not the same thing as writing for a wider audience. One of the biggest challenges for those working on a daily basis in clinical or school classroom psychological processes is to articulate the mysteries of human behavior to the rest of the world.

Wayne Dyer was probably the best at doing this. Ever since his early years at St. John’s University in New York,  he understood the value of transcendence and cognitive-behavioral concepts,  Abraham Maslow’s view of human motivation, and Viktor Franklin’s thoughts on the meaning of life.

These thoughts shaped his first books. He later explored many spiritual aspects of the human experience with the goal of a clear purpose: to help people better understand themselves, to look at themselves, and to begin to change concepts, thoughts, and attitudes to make growth possible.

Wayne Dyer: Borrowed for reflection

Dyer was a psychologist, professor, and successful writer in the field of motivation and personal growth, as well as one of the most successful speakers of all time. He wrote many books, including five different children’s books. Today, a few years after his death (2015), the legacy left by Dyer is still very strong and present. These words expressed by Wayne Dyer, which we share below, reveal the basic essence of his practical wisdom.

1. Your attitude towards life

Dyer used to repeat this idea often in his books: “change your thoughts, change your life”. Happiness, as surprising as this may seem, is nothing but an attitude toward life. Completely regardless of our own personal darkness, despite the difficulties and gray days… For if you are willing to cope with them, perspectives change and life becomes a little easier.

2. Selective attention

Granted away. How many times have we taken a backseat in front of our dreams because we didn’t trust ourselves enough? We see more walls and barriers than open highways of opportunity that open up before us, and set traps in our own way. Let us take action to expand our own selective focus so that it not only takes into account the difficulties and we can also see the rampant opportunities around us.

3. Don’t be yourself the worst enemy

Wayne Dyer reminds us that it is  always more auspicious to be hated for what we are than to be loved for what we are not. After all, there is no worse reason to suffer in life than not having your own self.

4. It matters at the moment

This is hard to believe, but we do so:  we do not give enough weight to the things around us, and we even ignore ourselves.  We allow life to flow past us while worrying about yesterday and the future, which has not even happened yet. On the downside of this, we don’t notice all the wonderful things that are happening right now right before our eyes.

Let us be responsible developers and builders of our own story.  Let’s focus on this moment and be the architects of our own happiness.

5. Take risks

The unknown is an immensely vast unexplored area where all our fears grow.  A strong voice tells us that it is better not to take risks and that it is best to stay in your own comfort zone, where nothing new will ever happen, but we are still safe.

However, no one grows up in this small space where everything is easy and familiar. We are not moving forward there and we cannot be completely happy. As Wayne Dyer reminds us,  “The more you see yourself as you would like to be and act as you already have, the more you activate these dormant forces that work together to transform your dreams into your own reality.”

6. Manage your inner self and concentration

Here, Wayne Dyer touches on our spiritual world, which intensifies rather than harms the psychological world. He always used to defend in his books the fact that  we have all the resources we need to experience complete peace.  Sometimes, however, we fill our minds with noise, whisperings of negative thoughts, exhausting attitudes…

All our strength lies here, in our own minds. However, we need to learn how to calm and focus our minds. To do this, we must learn to connect with and pay attention to our inner self, improve it, and give it peace.

7. Learn to see the best in other people

A person who does not trust other people and only sees their weaknesses, failures, and bad behaviors is certainly just at the beginning of the adventure of personal growth. Why so? Anyone who only sees flaws in other people hides a great emptiness within them. And in addition to this dangerously low self-esteem.

A person who treats himself well is not compulsively interested in the evil that is revealed to other people. Moreover, such use of our attention and energy only brings us sorrow and suffering. On the other hand, however,  seeing the light in another person’s heart can offer us hope and well-being.

Finally, these wisdoms borrowed from Wayne Dyer are just a very small example of everything he has taught us. He was one of the most insightful psychologists of all time and adept at sharing what he learned about psychology with people so they could use it to help build a healthier and more fulfilling life.
